The challenge
Rooted had everything a local business needs except discoverability. Their site was a slow, five-year-old template that took eight seconds to load on a phone, had no local pages, and didn't appear in the map pack for a single high-intent search. Meanwhile, two newer cafés with worse coffee were collecting every 'coffee near me' customer in the neighborhood. Foot traffic was flat and weekend revenue depended entirely on regulars.
What we did
We rebuilt the website from scratch — mobile-first, loading in under two seconds, with a menu page people actually use and an online-order call to action on every screen. Then we went to work on local SEO: a fully optimized Google Business Profile, consistent listings across 40+ directories, a review-request system for the counter, and neighborhood-focused pages answering the searches people in the area actually make. Locally-focused content did the rest of the lifting, targeting questions like 'best coffee for remote work' that mapped to how their customers really search.
The results
Within five months, organic traffic was up 184% and Rooted held top-three map pack positions for eight of their ten target searches. Direction requests from Google tripled. The owner's favorite metric was simpler: weekend mornings now have a line, and new faces outnumber regulars for the first time in the café's history.
